In order to maintain this level of confidence within the Center and community, your understanding of this policy and willingness to carry out during and after your service with the Billy DeFrank LGBTQ Community Center is very important. Realizing that confidentiality is the cornerstone of the Center's programs, you agree that you will keep in strict confidence all information that should come to you about any individuals, organizations or businesses during and after my service with the Billy DeFrank LGBTQ Community Center. You also understand that you may be asked to resign your volunteer or staff position at any time by the Executive or Board Directors for any violation of this statement of confidentiality.

Statement of Agreement

You agree to the following:
- You are interested in serving as a Billy DeFrank LGBTQ Community Center volunteer and that your performance as a volunteer will be evaluated.
- You are prepared to receive training and devote an agreed upon time to the Billy DeFrank LGBTQ Community Center.

Furthermore, you should be aware that while the Center hopes and anticipate that its volunteers will commit for a minimum of six months, all volunteer positions with the Center are at-will.  As a result, you are free to resign at any time, for any reason or for no reason.  Similarly, the Center is free to conclude its relationship with you at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice.  In the event that you resign, we request that you ensure that any pending commitments are properly transitioned.

As a Center volunteer, you will be expected to abide by the Center’s rules and standards.  As a condition of your volunteer relationship, you will also be required to sign and comply with such generally applicable volunteer agreements and policies as the Center may adopt from time to time, including but not limited to (i)  the Billy DeFrank Center Volunteer Agreement; (ii) the Billy DeFrank Center Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation; and (iii) the Billy DeFrank Center Technology Systems Policy.  Moreover, you agree not to bring any third-party confidential information to the Center, including that of any employer, and you agree that you will not in any way utilize any such information in performing your duties for the Center.

The Center reserves the right to conduct background investigations and/or reference checks on all of its potential volunteers.  Any volunteer position is contingent upon a clearance of such a background investigation and/or reference check, if any, and by applying as a volunteer you consent to such checks and agree to (i) provide references upon request; and (ii) complete any forms required by the Center’s third party background check provider to facilitate any background check.  Please advise the Center by email to volunteer@defrank.org if you have ever been convicted of a criminal offense (felony or serious misdemeanor) (convictions for marijuana-related offenses that are more than two years old need not be listed).  Please state the nature of the crime(s), when and where convicted, and the disposition.  A prior criminal offense will not necessarily result in denial of a volunteer opportunity.  The Center will consider the nature, date, and any surrounding circumstances, and relevance of any offense to the volunteer program of the Center.
